Un pH decreciente tiene un efecto negativo sobre la eficacia del proceso biol\u00f3gico, ya que muchos microorganismos implicados son sensibles a las condiciones \u00e1cidas. Un pH demasiado bajo puede provocar una reducci\u00f3n de la actividad enzim\u00e1tica y de la tasa de crecimiento de los microbios, ralentizando o incluso deteniendo el proceso de reducci\u00f3n. En particular, el <a href=\"https:\/\/microbewiki.kenyon.edu\/index.php\/Dehalococcoides_mccartyi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Dehalococcoides mccartyi<\/em><\/a> responsables de la conversi\u00f3n completa de PCE y TCE en etileno, son muy sensibles. A pH <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enviro.wiki\/index.php?title=Low_pH_Inhibition_of_Reductive_Dechlorination\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> &lt; 6<\/a>, su actividad cae a cero.<\/p>\n<p>La aplicaci\u00f3n de tampones de pH, por ejemplo mediante tampones de carbonato o a\u00f1adiendo sustancias alcalinas como bicarbonato s\u00f3dico o hidr\u00f3xido de magnesio , evita que el pH descienda demasiado. Esto mantiene un entorno estable, neutro o ligeramente alcalino, en el que los microorganismos implicados pueden funcionar de forma \u00f3ptima. La disociaci\u00f3n de los iones hidr\u00f3xido (OH<sup>-<\/sup>) del mineral est\u00e1 controlada por la acidez (pH) del medio. En aguas subterr\u00e1neas con un pH bajo, se liberar\u00e1n m\u00e1s iones OH<sup>-<\/sup>, lo que elevar\u00e1 el pH. El aumento del pH disminuye la disociaci\u00f3n de los iones OH<sup>-<\/sup> y se produce la remineralizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Esto permite una acci\u00f3n a largo plazo en la que el mineral libera sus
