Electron acceptors
How do they work?
Electron acceptors act as “receivers” in the respiratory processes of the microorganisms. Without these acceptors, the microorganisms can function less effectively or sometimes not at all. By adding electron acceptors to soil and groundwater, we create an environment in which microorganisms thrive better and their natural decomposition processes can occur more quickly and completely. This can significantly reduce remediation time and lower the cost and impact of remediation, contributing to more sustainable and efficient remediation of contaminated sites.
