Natural and biological water purification in septic tanks
Septic tanks and small scale sewage treatment plants rely on natural and biological processes to degrade contaminants present in sewage. Organic components and inorganic nutrients in the wastewater are biologically converted and broken down by bacteria. In septic tanks this is a passive process without aeration and small scale wastewater treatment installations, which are aerated, rely on activated sludge to remove the contaminants. Thus the bacteria eat the substances, as it were, removing the waste products from the water. Organic and natural water purification has various advantages. For example, this technique is low cost and has been used for decades and there is a lot of knowledge and experience with the various options. But if the biological process doesn’t work well you will need our help.
